March On ’66
Our 50th Abbot Reunion is fast approaching. A team of your classmates is working to create a once-in-a-lifetime event to celebrate our shared experience and the women we have become.
On Friday, June 10th, our reunion will include a special day designed by our class and called Abbot@Andover. Even if you are not a “reunion person,” we hope you will join us for this unique opportunity to connect and renew friendships. Taking place on “our campus,” around the Abbot Circle, the day will include a substantive inclusive program that encapsulates our 50-year journey, a tour to see how our spaces have been repurposed for today’s needs, a memorial service for Abbot alums, and plenty of opportunities to share memories and reconnect as a diverse group of women. We hope that Abbot@Andover Day will become a new tradition to strengthen the connections among Abbot alums of all classes, as well as a way to share our legacy with new generations of women (and men).
From June 9 to June 12, our reunion weekend will provide many wonderful ways to reunite with classmates and learn more about the outstanding institution of which our Abbot heritage is an important part. Additional events will include the following:
- On Thursday, June 9: a welcome program for the 50th reunion class at the Addison Gallery of American Art, followed by a 50th reunion dinner for Abbot and Phillips Academy in Davis Hall on the Abbot Campus
- On Saturday, June 11: classes led by faculty and presentations by alums, the Head of School John Palfrey presenting the State of the Academy, and a joint 50th reunion cocktail and dinner
- On Sunday, June 12: a farewell brunch for a final visit before saying goodbye
You can also stay up-to-date through our Abbot 50th Reunion Facebook page set up by Beth Humstone. To join this private group, you must join Facebook and be a friend of someone who is already in the group. We already have 16 members who can add you to the private page, so please, come join the conversation! https://www.facebook.com/groups/168592686817015/.
Our reunion committee members have been reaching out to everyone; we hope you have heard from one or more classmates. A number of you have already indicated that you plan to attend. Hooray! We want a great turnout. Each of us had our own unique Abbot experience and took away things that have shaped our lives since graduation. It will be very special to gather as a class to reflect on our Abbot experiences, share our journeys since then, and renew our bonds of friendship as we March On ’66.
