Wouldn’t you rather be at Andover? (In June, for our [gulp] 25th Reunion!) Yes, of course you would! Where the social life will again be fine; Commons dining will [truly this time] be sublime, and the faculty remain strictly wunderbar! But we won’t really have to worry about them in the same way, will we?!
Our spectacular Reunion Planning Committee has been working hard since September to plan a phenomenal weekend celebrating a quarter century since we stood in a circle on the Great Lawn, were last serenaded by the Carillon in the Bell tower, learned from Headmaster McNemar the importance of grass (on the Quad of course), wandered the halls of Sam Phil and deftly navigated parietals.
The weekend begins Friday afternoon with interesting programs offered by our classmates and continues into the night with a family-friendly dinner in the Cage followed by a Friday Night Flashback party in Pine Knoll, the designated residential area for the Class of 1990. Saturday has a full schedule planned by the Academy with classes beginning bright and early, followed by the Parade and a re-dedication of our class tree on the Great Lawn behind Bartlett.
Saturday afternoon we’ll have family friendly activities on campus, or you can go for a run in the sanctuary, make a run to Harrison’s for the best roast beef sandwich on the planet, or just soak in being on campus. Saturday evening’s activities are adults only; PA has arranged for babysitting services for those planning to bring their little ones. The evening begins with a cocktail party at Phelps House hosted by Head of School John Palfrey and his wife Catherine. The true highlight of the weekend is an incredible catered dinner under a tent on the East Lawn (behind the Gelb Science Center). Dessert features Rob Bohorad’s Yuengling ice cream! In addition to an amazing menu, Pablo Mozo (’89) will reprise his WPAA DJ days, providing a Riley Room Remix delving deep into the 80s playlist.
The fates did not hex us; our guardian angel sent us to old PA; and now it is time to relive that incredible experience! So get out your acid-washed jeans, blast the B-52s, tune in to Tone Loc, crank up Yaz Upstairs at Eric’s, and circle the weekend of June 12-14, then get your Gaudeamus Igitur on and go online to sign up for the weekend! Of course, if there is anything you’d like to see on the schedule, don’t hesitate to contact one of us!
Be sure to purchase a 25th Reunion Vest before the weekend too!
See you in June!
