It is hard to believe that I am writing to invite you to our 60th Abbot Reunion in June. I ask myself how could it be sixty years since our graduation? Once again we have the opportunity to gather to renew friendships, to reminisce and to be energized by participating in the various activities planned on both the Phillips and Abbot campuses.
On this page there are links to the full schedule showing all the programs to be offered and the form to complete to register. I encourage you to attend as many functions as possible. We plan to march in the parade on Saturday, so please bring your blue Abbot ’54 ribbon from our 50th if available. Also wear our class color yellow or whatever colors you wish. Time at the picnic will give us an opportunity to mingle with all alums, especially PA ’54. After lunch there is a planned dialogue on education with Duke Univ. president Richard Brodhead ’64 and Head of School John Palfrey that promises to be very interesting and well worthwhile, according to Sylvia Thayer.
There will be times to gather and to visit on the Abbot Campus between events when we can use the McKeen Room in Draper. Thanks to Paula Prial Folkman who made the arrangements for our Saturday night dinner. Dinner is planned for 6:30pm at the Palmers Restaurant and Tavern on 18 East Elm Street in Andover where Paula has reserved a small room for us. The restaurant can accommodate any food allergies including gluten free items. Dinner is listed as Dutch treat on the registration form. Please bring photos and other memorabilia to share during our time together. As always, spouses and partners are welcome at all events.
A reminder that we have chosen to support the Brace Center for Gender Studies with our Reunion Gifts to PA. The Center is housed on the Abbot Campus in Abbot Hall. The funds would go toward lectures and awareness of gender issues on the PA campus. Thanks to many of you who have already made generous contributions earmarked for the Brace Center. We believe this to be a worthwhile cause, and I urge those who have not yet contributed to do so –– no matter the amount. If you choose to have your gift go to the Brace Center for Gender Studies, please earmark your donation accordingly.
I hope that you will join us for our 60th Reunion June 13-15. I know we shall have a grand time, and I look forward to seeing you then.
